Introduction

Fabric manipulation is what it says. In its simplest form, as shown by the pink cushion on in the panel, it achieves a woven look. A single piece of fabric is stitched on the reverse side. The stitches are pulled together to achieve the woven look.

You need a geometric pattern to show you where to stitch. I haven’t done many of these and I used patterns from craft magazines.

The little teddy was a kit that I bought in a store called Michaels when I was in America. He is from a set of 6.

The cushion is patchwork.  Something that I tried, but didn’t take up.

I designed the Sophie picture by cutting out the letters of her name and appliqueing them onto a slub silk fabric, embelishing them with buttons, stars and a ginger bread man. It was worked on an embriodery/tapestry frame.

I'm rather pleased with the result.

The Six Little Bears is from a pattern series called Country Folk by Brenda Walker. finished size is 17" X 10"

The two cushions in the right panel, showing aircraft, are quilted.
